24 Days of Christmas – Top 10 Worst Christmas Songs

Although most of us adore Christmas and (secretly) love to sing Christmas carols, there also are some songs which are just. Too. Annoying. They either look at Christmas from a pretty weird angle, are too repetitive or are played too often by radio stations. In order to warn you for songs that might get stuck inside your head, we created a list with songs that you might want to avoid the next couple of weeks!

  1. Santa Baby – Eartha Kitt

https://youtu.be/jFMyF9fDKzE

Santa Baby is a weird song on many levels. Besides sexualizing the relationship between Santa Claus and the children that write him letters, Eartha Kitt asks Santa for an enormous amount of presents.. Yachts, Cadillacs, Christmas ornaments from Tiffany, a ring: nothing seems to be too much. We’d suggest that you all keep on brewing in the Christmas spirit and just be thankful for everything that others do for you!

  1. Never Do a Tango With an Eskimo – Alma Cogan

Besides the fact that the lyrics are really repetitive and easily get stuck inside your head, we can be very short about this song: Why is it even related to Christmas?

  1. Little Drummer Boy – Boney M.

https://youtu.be/bPBvSBRaLfo

Pa rum pum pum pum… Do we really have to say more? Little Drummer Boy is quite repetitive (rum pum pum pum is repeated 21 times) and a lot of people think that it’s annoying. We simply don’t understand why this song has been covered by artists like Destiny’s Child, Josh Groban, Justin Bieber, Whitney Houston and so on..

  1. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus – Jimmy Boyd

https://youtu.be/e7t8YTbQSQc

Seriously, which children would want to hear a song about their mother tickling and kissing Santa Claus? Of course, Santa is actually dad in a costume, but still. It’s weird.

  1. The Twelve Days of Christmas – Bing Crosby & The Andrew Sisters

https://youtu.be/9ZL1u-0Tycc

Although you probably liked this song when you were a child, it’s getting old now. We can imagine that all the repetition is a bit too much for now… Let’s listen to other songs to get in the Christmas mood!

  1. You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch – Dr. Seuss

https://youtu.be/35WgpMq6e3o

When we were younger, we all hated the green and grumpy Grinch! Even though the lyrics describe the Grinch pretty well, we can’t imagine that this song actually provides someone with the nice, thankful and cosy Christmas spirit.

  1. We All Stand Together – Paul McCartney

https://youtu.be/gpevZ0-wUYQ

Even though you might like the books about Rupert Bear for which this song was written, We All Stand Together is a pretty annoying song. In addition to the cheesy lyrics, the frogs that can be heard throughout the entire song don’t add anything to the overall quality of the song.

  1. Feliz Navidad – Jose Feliciano

https://youtu.be/xMtuVP8Mj4o

Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, Prospero año y Felicidad! Although the song is quite catchy, this is a typical case of a song that has been played too often at radio stations. Every year it feels like ‘’There we go again…’’.

2.The Christmas Song – Alvin and the Chipmunks

https://youtu.be/V1B0eIdwFvI

Listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks might be nice if you are watching the movie, but it definitely isn’t worth listening to on Christmas Eve. Those pitches are just. Disturbing. A. Lot.

  1. Mistletoe – Justin Bieber

https://youtu.be/LUjn3RpkcKY

Apart from the cheesiness of Mistletoe’s lyrics, this song really gets stuck into your head. Let’s hope that you don’t run into a teenage girl with a crush on Justin Bieber anytime soon…!

If you make sure that you don’t listen to the songs that are on this list (after reading this article), you are already one step closer to having an awesome Christmas!
